Message from the Principal
Liberty Park Families,
I hope that your family had a great fall break! Our students have had a great first week of learning back at LP! Our PTA has 2 big events coming up this quarter. Our first movie night is on Friday, November 17th. Followed by our HUGE annual Holly Jolly Festival on Friday, December 1st. Mark your calendars now!
I would like to thank everyone for supporting our annual school fall fundraiser and our hurricane relief fundraiser event! We were able to support Oleson Elemntary in Houston, TX by providing resources to provide clothing and supplies for their students. As we approach Thanksgiving, we are preparing for our annual Thanksgiving Outreach Program. Our canned food drive is a key piece of this effort and begins November 1st! (see below in newsletter).
Finally, students are excited this week and early next week to guess the weight of our pumpkin (grown by our very own PE teacher Mr. Limbach!).

It's time for Liberty Park's Annual Canned Food Drive!
LP is again partnering with Kona Ice for an exciting competition and food drive involving the local schools, called Cans for Kona. All items collected will be donated to the Liberty Park/Raymond Park Intermediate Thanksgiving Outreach Program. Additional items will be donated to the Warren Township Sunny Day food bank at Highlander Park.
We will be collecting food items from November 1st to November 17th. We will be collecting any non-perishable food items like: canned meals, stews, soups, tuna, ravioli, lasagna, peanut butter, canned vegetables, cereal, rice, pasta, dried beans, fruit cups, dried fruit, applesauce, rice, granola bars, etc.
All students who bring 2 items will win a free prize from Kona Ice!. The grade level that brings in the most items also recieves a reward!
Liberty Park’s goal is to beat last year’s total and collect 3,000 canned items!
Together we can make a difference!

Throughout the week, each teacher will be looking for a SuperCORE student of the week going above and beyond showing all parts of CORE. On Fridays, Mr. Brooks draws one student per grade level from the office Badge Box to earn Soaring Eagle Badge! These students receive a free Fro-yo coupon, gift certificates, and also get to visit the office during recess to play the Wii with a friend!

Mrs. Amanda Robinson
~2nd Grade Teacher
My name is Mrs. Amanda Robinson. I live in Indianapolis with my husband, Josh and our two boys, Braydon and Gentry. I graduated in 2016 from Western Governors University, with my Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Education. I joined the Kindergarten team at Liberty Park in January of 2017. I am excited to be back at Liberty Park this year joining the Second Grade team. I am looking forward to a year full of fun and learning.

Dress Code Reminder: With colder weather approaching please note that students are not permitted to wear jackets, coats, or hooded sweatshirts during the school day. Below is information on acceptable shirts, sweatshirts, tops, etc.
Shirts and Tops:
• Polo style shirts: Any solid color or stripe
• Turtle neck shirts: Any solid color or stripe
• Sweaters/vests: Any solid color or stripe
• Shirts/blouses with collars (long or short sleeve): Any solid color or stripe
• Sweatshirts without hoods: Any solid color or school spirit wear
• Sweatshirts with hoods that are Liberty Park or Warren Township spirit wear will be allowed.
• All shirts should be solid colors or stripes with no logos, except Liberty Park or Warren
Township logos which are allowed.
• Male shirts should be tucked into pants.
• Female shirts designed to be un-tucked should not hang below the inseam.
Student Uniform Policy - LP Dress Code - The students uniformly dressed policy is available in the Parent/Student Handbook as well as our school website. A link can also be found in the Helpful Links section of this newsletter.

- Transportation Changes and Early Dismissals: Any transportation changes must be called in to the front office prior to 3:00pm. No changes after that time will be in effect until the following day. Students also will not be allowed to be signed out between 3 and 3:30pm for appointments. Car riders will be released from their classrooms at 3:30pm.
- Car Riders: If your student will be a car rider this school year please visit the front office to complete the car rider paperwork.
- Tardy: Our tardy bell rings at 8:40am. Any students arriving after that time will be counted as tardy and must report to the front office. Families who are tard
- Parking Reminder: There is no parking along the front side walk of the building. It is important that this area remain cleared for fire and emergency vehicles. Please park in the designated parking lot areas when visiting the school.
- Lunch Visitors: If you have a grandparent or family member that you anticipate coming in to have lunch with your student, please ensure that they have been included as an Emergency Contact. Visitors will not be permitted to have lunch with students unless they are on that students Emergency Contact form. Please contact the front office with any questions.
- Visitors Background Checks: Volunteers must have a valid background check on file in the front office as well as be included on a students emergency contact form for any type of school volunteer opportunities. If you would like to complete this process or have any questions please stop by our front office.
- Student Absences: If your child is ill and will not be at school, please call the front office at 532-1850 to report his/her absence. Please call and report if your child will be arriving late to school due to a doctor’s appointment. Doing so helps us to know that your child is safe and with you.
- Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbooks should have came home with your student last week. If you did not receive a copy with the signature page please contact your child's teacher. LP Bookstore is OPEN! Students have an opportunity to purchase needed items in the morning as they arrive to school. Below is a list of some items available, there are also other items that can be found such as headphones!

Lunch Time Reminder: We have special seating next to our Café in our LGI room for parents to enjoy lunch with their child/children. Due to allergies and student safety, you may only eat lunch with your child/children. Students may not invite friends to eat with them while visiting with their parent. Guests must be on the child's emergency contact form. Thank you and enjoy time with your child!

Interested in becoming a
Warren Township Guest Teacher?
Warren Township schools are looking for classroom guest teachers for the 2017-18 school year. Classroom guest teachers, also referred to as substitute teachers, work a 7 1/2 hour day with a 30 minute lunch. Classroom guest teachers are paid $80 a day and are eligible for a $100 bonus after completing twenty classroom assignments. With 18 schools, and over 600 classrooms in the district, there are ample opportunities for being assigned to a classroom on a daily basis. SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/NEWS MEDIA USE
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
