Notes from the Nurse

Flu and cold season is upon us! Just a reminder, if your student is sent home with a fever, they must be fever-free (without symptoms or Tylenol/Motrin) for 24 hours before returning to school.  If your student complains of cold/flu symptoms, please keep them home from school. COLD symptoms are a runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, congestion, slight body aches or mild headache, sneezing, low-grade fever, tiredness. FLU symptoms are severe body aches or muscle pain, pain around the eyes; warm, dry, flushed skin, severe headache with fever, dry cough, runny nose, extreme fatigue, with nausea/vomiting and diarrhea in some children. Both viruses are very contagious and easily spread by cough or touch.

Old news:  Lost-and-Found is overflowing!  Please remind your students to check in the clinic for lost items. Several nice coats/jackets have been turned in.  To help your student keep track of their belongings, we encourage you to write your student's name on their lunch boxes, back-packs, coats, and jackets.

Message from the Principal

Liberty Park Families,

As you may of heard, Liberty Park received a grant from the Kitchen Community that awarded the school with our very own "Learning Garden"!  This link will take you to the Kitchen Community website that has additional information about what a learning garden is all about.  On October 31st, our students got to complete our garden by adding dirt, irrigation, and planting some fall crops!  Check out our facebook page via this link to see more pictures from our kick off day!
Have a great weekend and as always, I thank you for your continued support of Liberty Park Elementary!

Your Principal,

Jason Brooks

LP is again partnering with Kona Ice for an exciting competition and food drive involving the local schools, called Cans for Kona. “Liberty Park Elementary”
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos.  We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes.  However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
The mission of Liberty Park, in partnership with its entire community, will educate each student by providing a positive, challenging, and enriched learning environment that enables each student to become a life-long learner and a responsible citizen in an increasingly global society.
